Anger and Emotional Regulation

“Uncontrolled anger can increase risk of conflict in relationships, work challenges, and physical health issues, yet emotional regulation is a skill that can be learned and strengthened with the right support.”
— American Psychological Association (APA)

You’re Not “Too Much”

Anger itself isn’t the problem. It’s a valid and often necessary emotion. But when it feels like it’s controlling you—leading to outbursts, strained relationships, or lingering guilt—it’s time to address what’s beneath it.
Therapy offers a non-judgmental space to explore the roots of your anger and learn healthier ways to respond to emotional triggers.
Common signs that anger management support may be helpful:
  • Feeling like you “explode” over small things
  • Regretting words or actions after emotional outbursts
  • Struggling to communicate frustration calmly
  • Experiencing physical symptoms of anger (racing heart, muscle tension)
  • Difficulty managing irritability and impatience
  • Avoiding certain situations or people to “keep the peace”
  • Feeling misunderstood or dismissed when expressing emotions
If your emotions feel too big to handle—or you’re tired of regretting what you said in the heat of the moment—therapy can help. We’ll work with you to unpack where that anger comes from, build new ways to express it, and give you tools to respond (instead of react).
